Duty Editors (casual), BT.com - Press Association

Careers: Duty Editors (casual), BT.com

The Press Association is seeking Duty Editors to manage the homepage of BT.com, the highly trafficked website which PA manages on behalf of BT, at evenings and weekends.

Suitable candidates will have a keen eye for detail, excellent editorial judgement and solid journalistic skills and experience.

You will need to be confident with selecting and ‘packaging’ appropriate editorial content for the homepage, which is viewed by more than a million users each day.

You must be comfortable working with technology and tools, monitoring live metrics and adjusting programming accordingly.

Although primarily an editing role, you will be expected to create original stories and galleries from time to time.

You will need to monitor social media and other news sources for leads, and be able to produce clean, error-free content without supervision.

To be considered, you MUST have experience managing or creating content on at least one major UK website.

You will also need to demonstrate excellent knowledge of British popular culture, including news (in particular light/quirky news), top-level football and TV.

A full list of requirements is below.

We are looking for editors who are available to work on a casual basis, mainly on weekday evenings (5-10.30pm), although some weekend work (8.30am-6.30pm) may also be available from time to time. Editors will be expected to attend (paid) weekday training sessions.

These are office-based positions. PA is based near Victoria Station, in the heart of London.

To apply, please send covering letter and CV to Rhys Lewis, Portal Quality Manager.
