PA Group People: Alan, Royal Correspondent
I cover stories relating to the British Royal Family and during a typical day may cover a Buckingham Palace reception hosted by the Queen or travel to a city like Cambridge or Reading where the Prince of Wales or Prince Harry may be visiting.
When I first joined the Press Association I was working in the general news department – a group of reporters who cover the breaking news stories of the day and routine events like court cases and tribunals. I began covering the Royal Family part time and then became full-time when a vacancy arose.
My job with the Press Association is varied, interesting and unpredictable and gives me a behind-the-scenes glimpse of places and events the public never experience. I have also travelled extensively around the world from Brazil, Canada and Uganda to New Zealand, Singapore and Jamaica covering royal visits and events.
