Press Association Training has launched a new service called ‘Use Our News’ which offers the Press Association news wire to schools as a teaching resource. The wire service, which is available to classrooms for half a term or a full year, marks the first time the national news agency’s wire has been made available to teachers.
The news wire available to schools is the same feed used by regional and national newspapers and national broadcasters. Subscribers will also get access to the Press Association’s comprehensive news diary and sports news wire. Teachers can then use live stories in the classroom to produce newspapers, examine news writing styles, demonstrate how stories are adapted to attract particular audiences and to show how a breaking story develops throughout the day.
Press Association Training also offer school curriculum based ‘news days’ run by a journalist in the classroom and ‘news tours’ of the London, Howden and Newcastle Press Association offices.
