Press Association Training has launched an innovative online shorthand training service to help trainee journalists reach the must-have speed of 100 words per minute.  The service, which offers students live interactive tutorials, marks the first time Press Association Training has offered online shorthand training. The first course will begin on 19 May and run over 10 weeks.

The programme, built around Teeline training, has been designed to provide specialist help for students who have already achieved speeds of 70 wpm, but who require extra tuition to bring their speed up to the gold standard. The training sessions are delivered live, and participants can submit questions, receive dictation and obtain instant feedback on their progress.

Susan Nixon, Press Association shorthand tutor with more than 20 years experience, commented “We are excited to be able to offer this new way of building speed. Having timetabled online sessions where trainees know they are making an appointment to learn, is an ideal way of keeping focused on the 100 words per minute target.”

Tony Johnston, Head of Press Association Training, commented “We believe that the support, feedback, advice and guidance provided through our online training service will encourage trainees to confidently push towards exam success.”
