A website dedicated to photographs of Pope Benedict XVI’s visit to England and Scotland has been created by Press Association Images in anticipation of a demand for print sales from the general public. The site, www.thepopesvisit.co.uk, will be updated daily with images by the Press Association’s photographers during the four day tour. Customers will be able to browse all images from the visit and can purchase keepsake photographs as prints or in framed or canvas form.

The site also features related images from Pope John Paul II’s visit to the UK in 1982 and to Ireland in 1979, as well as additional shots of Pope Benedict XVI’s meeting with Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall plus other notable events.

Pope Benedict XVI will arrive in Scotland on 16 September and go on to visit London and Birmingham.

Martin Stephens, Managing Director, Press Association Images, commented: “During high profile events such as these, we tend to receive a high volume of calls from members of the public who have seen our photographs in newspapers or online and wish to buy prints as mementos of the occasion. To make this easy we have created a dedicated site where we will upload all the images that our photographers take of the visit, allowing people to browse and choose the images that they would like to keep.”
