Dave Cheskin named Photographer of the Year
Press Association photographer, Dave Cheskin has been named Photographer of the Year for the third time in four years, at the First ScotRail Press Photography awards. Dave also received the Celebrity Picture of the Year award for his photo of Sean Connery at the Edinburgh International Book Festival.
A record number of almost 3200 images were received for this year’s awards, but Cheskin’s portfolio demonstrated “great versatility in his approach and style”, said Ken Lennox, former picture editor of the Sun and chair of the judging panel.
The winning portfolio included shots of HRH Prince Charles and Camilla sharing a joke at the Mey Highland Games, First Minister Alex Salmond, a ship ablaze at Port of Leith in Edinburgh, and a seagull attacking a gannet in the Firth of Fourth. See the winning portfolio

Press Association photographer Andrew Milligan also received a nomination in this year’s awards.
