Clive Marshall appointed PA Group Chief Executive

PA Group, owner of the Press Association, has announced that Clive Marshall is to become its new Chief Executive Officer. He succeeds Paul Potts who retires from the post on 21 January 2010. Clive will take up his new role on 15 February.

Clive Marshall, Press Association new Chief Executive OfficerClive is currently CEO of Australian Associated Press Pty Limited (AAP), a position he has held since 2001. Under his leadership AAP has achieved strong and consistent growth in both revenues and profits whilst also building a number of successful stand-alone media businesses which sit alongside a vibrant news agency. These include Pagemasters, which provides page production and sub-editing outsourcing services, the news monitoring and intelligence company AAP Newscentre and the largest distributor of corporate news and information in Australia, AAP Media Net.

Before joining AAP, Clive spent a total of eight years with PA Group in a number of roles, including as Sales Director of PA Group, Managing Director of Two-Ten Communications Limited and PA Enterprise, as well as being appointed as a director of the Group in 2000. Prior to his time at PA Group, Clive worked for Reed Elsevier Plc and Trinity Newspapers Limited.

In announcing Clive’s appointment, Tim Bowdler, Chairman of PA Group, said: “I am delighted that Clive will become the Group’s next CEO. He is ideally qualified to lead PA, its strong management team and committed staff through the next stages of the Group’s development. I am confident that the experience he brings from his time at AAP and with PA prior to that will prove invaluable to the Group. In welcoming Clive I would also like to thank Paul Potts for the huge contribution he has made over many years to the success of PA Group.”

Commenting on his appointment, Clive Marshall said: “I am absolutely delighted to be returning to the Press Association as Chief Executive Officer. Although the PA Group has expanded its activities considerably over the last few years the Press Association news agency remains at the heart of the business. My focus will be to ensure that we continue to provide the UK media with the highest quality, cost effective, news and information resource whilst at the same time maximising the commercial opportunities of our various businesses to ensure the ongoing financial strength of the Group.”
