Press Association joins MINDS International network
The Press Association, the multimedia content business, will join the media technology network MINDS International from January 2009, becoming MINDS partner for the United Kingdom.
MINDS International is a platform for news agencies to share ideas and exchange knowledge on online and mobile business concepts in order to improve revenues and work cost effectively in digital markets. With this new member the MINDS network will consist of 17 leading international news agencies, covering all major markets in Europe, North America as well as Russia. MINDS is also negotiating with selected news agencies in Asia about membership.
As the UK media’s leading source of news and information, the Press Association has evolved in recent years into a digital business and now supplies services to major ISPs, online publishers and mobile operators. Digital content is a major area of growth for the business.
The Press Association intends to become part of the MINDS video exchange group, providing up to 15 clips per day to the other MINDS agencies.
Chris McCormack, Head of Digital Development at the Press Association said: "We are all pursuing digital opportunities, and creating innovative products and services, so it makes sense for us to compare notes about what works and what doesn't.
"MINDS International will help improve all our online services as we share developments and knowledge with the other member news agencies.
"It will also provide us with a means of co-ordinating on global opportunities, and allows us to share content that works across regional boundaries.
"We are already working with MINDS on sharing video material, and are excited about new opportunities that will arise from working together in 2009."
Wolfgang Nedomansky, Managing Director of MINDS International said: “With the Press Association, MINDS has got another highly innovative partner, which will further improve the work of the entire network. The Press Association is a powerful and successful company with many interesting services that could be offered by other MINDS partners in their home markets.”
