Press Association launches online video news archive
The Press Association is launching an online archive of video news today, containing over 40,000 clips from both the past and present. The archive will provide broadcasters and newsrooms with extensive searchable video coverage of breaking current affairs, sports and entertainment news from all corners of the UK. In addition, the site contains over 2,000 hours of video footage accrued by the Press Association during the past decade.
The launch of the archive underlines the Press Association’s position as a major supplier of UK video news and aims to make video content more easily accessible to all newsrooms in today’s digital age. The portal is also available to online publishers, corporate companies, charities and public sector organisations.
The file-based service is quick and easy to search and includes raw video content as well as pre-packaged voiced news stories. The video coverage, which ranges from monthly Downing Street press conferences to red carpet events and premiership football news, is all filmed to broadcast quality by The Press Association’s team of multi-skilled reporters based in locations across the UK.
Tony Watson, Managing Director, Press Association, commented: “Our new video archive complements our fresh approach to digital news delivery. In today’s news market clients need access to multi-media content 24 hours a day, 7 days a week - the archive provides them with the flexibility to search and download any clip, at any time, in a range of formats.
“The Press Association prides itself on providing fast, fair and accurate coverage of news from every corner of the UK, and this is reflected in the depth and quality of our archive. This is an exciting new service which we believe will be of enormous value to a diverse range of clients for use across a wide variety of platforms.”
