Press Association secures page production deals with the Evening Standard and Scotland’s Herald & Times Group
The Press Association has won contracts with the London Evening Standard and Scotland’s Herald & Times Group to provide page production services.
The agreement with the London Evening Standard covers subbing and layout for a range of commercially-led editorial pages and supplements, including recruitment and entertainment.
The London Evening Standard brought in a new look in May last year under editor Geordie Greig, and in October became the first major quality newspaper in the world to go free. There has been an overwhelming demand for the paper even with the daily print run more than doubling to 600,000 copies.
The London title is new to the Press Association’s editorial Pages service based in Howden, East Yorkshire.
The new Herald & Times Group contract to provide a range of news and feature subbing work, builds on the current deal with the Press Association for subbing the Herald’s business pages and providing pages of national and international news stories for the Evening Times.
The Press Association has been providing outsourced page production to the industry for over 20 years, creating 9,000 pages a week. The new partnerships will add to its customer total of 220 newspapers and magazines in the UK.
Tony Watson, managing director of the Press Association, said: “We are delighted to have these prominent titles as customers of an increasingly important service for the industry. The deals are great examples of how our Pages service can be tailored to the different needs of newspaper titles. We offer the reassurance of pages produced with customers’ values, style and standards and, particularly important in the current economic climate, cost benefits made possible through economies of scale.”
