Exhibition of PA photography

From today, an exhibition of PA photography is on display in London’s City Hall. The exhibition entitled ‘Celebrating Women of London’ is being staged by the Mayor of London, Metro newspaper and Press Association Images to celebrate the centenary of International Women’s Day.

The exhibition features photographs and biographies of 40 iconic women who have lived or worked in London and have made their mark on history in the last 100 years.

Among those featured is Emmeline Pankhurst, the leader of the British suffragette movement, whose efforts led to women being given the right to vote. Author Virginia Woolf, regarded as one of the best writers of the 20th century, also included is Britain’s first female Prime Minister, Baroness Margaret Thatcher. Dame Judi Dench is included for her contribution to acting and Dame Vivienne Westwood represents the world of fashion.
