In 2008 we mounted our biggest Olympics operation yet at the Beijing Games and we were able to provide comprehensive coverage of Team GB's remarkable gold rush.
The Beijing Games and the performance of Team GB have paved the way for London 2012. The strength of the Press Association's team in Beijing ensured we were always reporting live from the important action. Our journalists were there when Team GB won 47 medals during the Games and we also reported live from Ireland's three medal-winning performances.

Our coverage from Beijing 2008 was praised by the regional press and the Press Association was commmended by Minister for Sport Gerry Sutcliffe and BOA chef de mission Simon Clegg.
We set new records for the scale of content produced at an Olympics. In total there were over 23,000 wire messages, including more than 7,500 Olympic stories and 15,700 items of data.
