Helen Flanagan thinks Coronation Street should have another live episode

Flanagan: Live ep would be amazing

Helen Flanagan is keen for Coronation Street to have a live episode to mark its 50th anniversary this year.

The actress, who plays Rosie Webster, missed out on the show's 40th anniversary live episode as she was too young to take part.

Asked if she'd like the soap to go live for its next milestone in December, she said: "I think it would be an amazing experience."

Rival soap EastEnders broadcast an episode live from its Elstree headquarters in February to mark its 25th anniversary, raking in more than 16 million viewers.

Helen said of the Walford instalment: "I didn't see it but I would have liked to. It would've been interesting."

Despite reports that Coronation Street would be following in EastEnders footsteps, soap bosses have denied this is on the cards.

But Helen said it's "very, very exciting" to be involved in the golden anniversary.

"We're all going to be buzzing round here. It's an amazing institution to be part of," she added.
