A man accused of attacking Noel Gallagher has been charged

New charge for Noel attack accused

A man accused of attacking Noel Gallagher on stage in Canada has had his charge upgraded.

Daniel Sullivan, 47, was charged on Thursday with one count of aggravated assault. He was originally charged with assault after the concert in September.

Sullivan allegedly ran onto the stage during Oasis's performance at the Virgin Music Festival in Toronto and tackled Noel from behind. Noel said he suffered three broken and dislodged ribs after falling onto his speakers.

Aggravated assault can carry a maximum sentence of 14 years in prison. The maximum penalty for assault is five years.

Sullivan's case is back in court on March 6 for a pre-trial hearing.
