Trainees, based in the company's operations centre in Howden, East Yorkshire, will get varied experience in one of the biggest and most modern multi-media newsrooms in the industry, working alongside talented and experienced people.
Outline of Editorial Trainee Programme:
The two-year programme covers every aspect of sports writing and production through attachments to the various editorial desks in Press Association Sport's state-of-the-art newsroom.
The traineeship covers writing and sub-editing sports stories for national and regional newspapers, our website management team and sport features department. Successful applicants will also help create web-ready editorial and SMS products.
After the first year, the programme allows scope for the trainees to spend additional time within the department most suited to their talents and ambitions. Trainees who make the required progress within the departments are eligible to apply for any permanent positions that arise across the editorial operation.
Required Qualifications/Experience:
• NCTJ or journalistic qualifications
• Previous work experience in sports media industry
• Knowledge of all sports
• Attention to detail
• Strong writing capabilities
• Time management skills
• Previous placement at PA (not essential)
